Soundshield, Acoustic Shock Protection Deal For Corporate Telecommunications

Corporate Telecommunications, the specialist distributor of headsets and allied voice and data installation products has recently added the Soundshield acoustic shock protection device to its product portfolio.

An acoustic shock is an event that involves a sudden unannounced loud noise to be heard through a headset. World wide there is a problem among headset users relating to the increased frequency of acoustic shock incidents, when loud or high pitched noises (acoustic shrieks) unexpectedly reach headset users through a telephone line. Receiving a malicious call such as blowing of a whistle, loud shouting, screaming or a sudden bang or other noise whilst taking a call are typical examples.

Soundshield is a digital sound processor designed to remove shrieks and limit volume from the audio feed to headsets. This device sits on the desk and plugs in between the users headset and either their turret or handset. It is field proven in more than 30% of UK Fire and Rescue Service command and control rooms.

Paul Baxter, General Manager Corporate Telecommunications said, “in terms of acoustic shock protection we were particularly impressed by the Soundshield’s performance and functionality. This device will not only monitor worker noise exposure before and after implementing the device, but will also report on these events. Ultimately Soundshield will offer protection to the headset wearer from enduring painful or at worst permanent damage to their hearing”.

Paul Jenkins, Managing Director of Nomadtrack said, “we chose Corporate Telecommunications to be our distributor in the UK as they demonstrated a strong customer service ethic and a desire to sell value and performance not just another box. Their ability to support the sale was an important factor in our decision making process”.

The Soundshield 3G retails at £230.00 ex-VAT. From April 2006 Corporate Telecommunications will also be able to offer the call centre industry a dedicated consultancy service in the form of a risk assessment of worker exposure to noise.
